YxY Learning Festival 2025 Program

Cafés are 3-day small group experiences where we create brave spaces for all ages to have the necessary conversations around education transformation. They are a microcosm of the Festival's learning journey and allow us to deeply connect, learn and collaborate around our Festival's guiding questions.

YouthxYouth joyfully invites you to open the 2025 Learning Festival with us. In this session, we will discuss our guiding question, set our intentions, discuss our collective agreements for coming together, and provide helpful context for each day of the Learning Festival. We will share what we have been creating and ideating over the past year, inviting your collaboration and connection.

In this session, we learn lessons from Maya geography to trouble the dominant world as strange and see how we can already design a new world in common that respects our infinite differences toward a world where all worlds fit.

Moderated by Nathan from Porticus, Hosted by Erioluwa from YouthxYouth. “Intergenerational Collaboration in Philanthropy: How are funders collaborating with youth leaders and their communities to create meaningful, lasting change? Throughout this discussion, we aim to explore several thought-provoking questions, including: What if young people were at the center of philanthropic decisions? What would that look, smell, and feel like? How can we disrupt the “adultification” of funding, where young people are expected to conform to adult standards or navigate inaccessible opportunities to build relationships with funders? What would it mean if funders and donors saw themselves as allies, not just partners, in the work of transformation? By the end of the session, we hope to inspire concrete commitments, including: A stronger commitment from funders to engage in intergenerational collaboration. A pledge to be more inclusive of young people in decision-making processes. A shift towards intergenerational ways of working in philanthropy.

A small provocation to begin the day hosted by the YouthxYouth core team and offered to allow you space to reflect on the theme of Growing Up.

Together, we will create a nurturing space where we can see through our wounds to the light in the core of our being. Discovering the wisdom beneath the pain our ancestors have carried and shared with us, we will remember who we are and why we are here.

What if young people truly led glocally? what will it look like? What if glocal weaving created systemic change, What if allies knew their roles, how will that change the glocal weaving. At the end of the session we want to inspire young people to; seed glocal hubs, allies and partners to see how they can support young people. How to use their knowledge to inspire systemic change.

Join us at YouthxYouth's Open Mic, where our community of artists, musicians and creatives will showcase their talents and share their expressive interpretations of this year's guiding question. This will be a safe and brave space for our community members to share our most "vulnerageous" (vulnerable-courageous) creative selves!
