A Story of Self Designed Learning
This poem is a presentation of Pooja Sippy's life. Inspired by Hers For the Taking: A Poem about Female Empowerment (Arshia Agrawal), guided by the Story Spine exercise (Kenn Adams) & supported by Lev Vygotsky’s Zone Of Proximal Development And Scaffolding theory, Pooja has scripted her own experiences from childhood to adulthood across different time spans.
Once upon a time:
Mom, adopted Daughter - Solely for experiencing parenting single handedly
Everyday:
Smiling, Carefree Daughter gazed at her mom with playful innocent eyes
But one day:
Daughter stopped attending regular school and with mom - experienced homeschooling together at NGOs and community activities.
Because of that:
Both mom & daughter Shared experiences and started CONNECTING with more people
Because of that:
Neighbors - tried to reduce them for not going to a regular school & Socially was looked down upon for helicopter parenting single handedly and inspite of obstacles Mom Persevered resonating with Mother Teresa's quote:
If you can't feed 100 then feed 1
Because of that:
Mom PERSEVERED more passionately alone single handedly without any support.
Until finally:
Both mom/daughter ROSE passionately together - to connect with global communities virtually & reached the summit together fearlessly!!!!
Ever since then:
They are not alone anymore + connected intergenerationally and interculturally worldwide
